Alecia Rodriguez is known for her amazing beauty work, but recently she’s been getting attention for a far less glamorous subject – financial scams. The Miami-based artist was selected by the FTC as the artist in a series of fotonovelas designed to educate Spanish-speaking consumers of common scams and their rights when it comes to reporting.
Fotonovelas are popular in many latino communities and are used by many Spanish-speaking governments to communicate with the public on various issues. The FTC also noted recent that fotonovelas have been used with great success to communicate health information in the United States among the Spanish-speaking population.
Currently, there are four fotonovelas in production with plans for four more in the future. Between the four current editions, there are nearly half a million in circulation. An interview with Alecia below!
